Tonight we went to Petland to get some frozen hoppers for Snickers.

We need to get her some new Sphagnum moss soon because with here last enclosure cleaning we used up the rest of what we already had.

We have a container of sphagnum inside her enclosure to keep up general humidity(which we only need in the winter) and we have another smaller container of sphagnum in her enclosure that is used for a humidity hide.

At Petland we saw both of these:

We have been using the upper picture (green sphagnum moss) so far with her rather than the lower picture (brown) moss.

What is the difference? Are we using the right kind???

Those types of moss look nothing alike even though they are both sphagnum for reptiles!

Onto the second question about sphagnum.

During sheds some moistened spagnum moss in the vivarium provides a good slow release of humidity between mistings. Available cheaper at gardening centers than at pet stores. Always ensure you buy the natural untreated kind. We found a 170 cubic inch bag of Mosser Lee sphagnum moss at Lowe's.

We want to use Mosser Lee Sphagnum from Lowe's considering it is much cheaper....

Can we use this in her enclosure or not?

This also has a 'brown' look to it....and I want to make sure it's "natural and untreated".

First and foremost is if we can use the moss for our BP but we also don't want to be ripped off.

Feedback on both questions is welcomed. We are going to have to get her more sphagnum soon enough and we want it to be right for her but we also don't want to be ripped off.
