Ball python feeding question and Excitement!!

First off... My new ball ate for the first time in his new home!!! =D I have had my bp for about 1 week, I will get measurements later, at the pet store they were feeding him frozen pinkies. Today I went and got a live pinky and he took it fairly quickly, hes kind of a shy eater, but he got it after about 10 minutes , I have read however that their food should be about the size of the thickest point of their body. Should I feed him hoppers? if they are around that size? or should I keep him on pinkies for a while

Congrats on your new bp! Now are we talking pinky rats or mice? Because straight out of the egg ball pythons can easily take down pinky mice and fuzzie mice. But yeah you need to feed something around the same width as the widest part on your ball pythons body,it could be up to 25% larger. You want the rodent to leave a decent size lump in the belly not too big and not small to the point where you cannot see it.

Why? Why do humans always look to the sky? Why do you try so hard to fly when you don't have any wings? We'll run on our own legs. - Kiba "Wolf's rain"

Well to be honest im not sure? She just asked me what size and I picked the slightly larger one, but it still was not as thick as my bp, probably about 75% I will up his food size in a few days i wasnt aware of the size proportion completely, thank you

That sounds about like the size of a rat pink. You should be looking more into the size of a rat fuzzy, or a hopper mouse...

It's better to see a lump than no lump at all, so if you have to go with a size slightly bigger, it's better than getting one that's slightly smaller than you need.
