Using Provent a Mite

Okay so.

My blue tongue has mites.

I bought a can of provent a mite.

I have read the directions.


Right here actually;

Spray substrates, holding can 12' to 15' from surface being treated and the rate of 1 second per foot2.

Ventilate the area until spray has completely dried and all vapors have dissipated.

Alright.


My question though, is how long do I let it ventilate?

When is it safe to put him back in?

And also, do I put in FRESH bedding, and THEN spray it?

Id put in fresh bedding just to be safe, and dispose of the old.

I usually let my cages/tubs ventilate for 30 minutes to an hour before I reintroduce them.

Also, spraying around entrances to tubs/cages and around the bases of racks and cages is a nice measure as well.

It depends on how much you spray. Thoroughly spray everything in the enclosure, except the animal and water bowl. There is no need to saturate everything. I would plan on 1-2 hours of drying time. If you have a ceiling fan or oscillating fan, that will help dry faster. Basically, when you can stick your nose in the enclosure and not smell the Provent-A-Mite, it's ready...

Thank you guys for the quick responses. I just got the can today and have been waiting to do this. I feel really bad for him.

If I leave it on the back patio for a little whyile to dry would that work as well?

PoM is easy, just take out your animal and the water and spray the substrate down. I usually give about an hour ( I like play on the safe side) to dry and then replace everything. Just make sure you spray it and let it dry in a well ventilated space.

I have found PAM can dry in as fast as 15 minutes, or as long as 2 hrs. It depends on how much you spray and where the enclosure is.

I usually let my snake tubs air out for 40 minutes and I'm good.

20 minutes or so is usually long enough. I spray an empty tub, put bedding in, spray again, let it sit for 20-30 mins.(no smell no wet) and then replace animal.

I replace water bowl after an hour, or overnight. I just don't like letting the water bowl in too fast.
