Lid question
I have a 30 gal tank that is 30x12x12 and it was designed for the lid to slide in on grooves on the sides. I got the tank from a friend for free and he didn't have the lid anymore. I bought a lid that fits on top but its sits funny and the clamps dont do a whole lot more then a text book on top. I looked all over and I cant find anywhere that sells the lid im looking for without buying a whole new tank. What are my options? Or do any of you know where I can get that type of lid? Much appreciated!

I'm sorry to tell you this, but you won't find a replacement sliding lid for the Zilla Critter cages, because they aren't available. I tried to find one a while back. I even contacted Zilla's Customer Service directly and they told me that they don't even sell replacements for their own products...
Your only options are to use the rig you have or get another tank. I guess Zilla figures they make more money that way...

Or maybe a couple of luggage straps wrapped around the tank would work...

Is it just a piece of glass that slides in a groove? If you have a Hobby Lobby or other craft store you could go and get a piece of glass cut to size, usually it isn't that expensive. Hobby Lobby usually has a 40% off coupon floating around the internet at all times so that would help. I don't know if that's the way your setup works, its just a suggestion!

I think im going to go that route and make one. I was just going to use two peices of acryllic and cut out a section for the metal mesh and simply put that between the two peices and hot glue it together. This hopefully will also take care of my humidity issue too! If it looks good I will post pics, and maybe a tutorial if its that good lol

If you're not using heat lamps you can forgo the mesh and just drill a few holes on the plexi-glass.

Duct tape works really well for keeping slide-off lids secure. Just remember to replace the duct tape as the adhesive gets weak. I can usually reuse a strip of tape 2-3 times for opening the lid before I have to use new strips.
