    Wish us luck!

    Hello all!

I recently 'rescued' a crested gecko from Petco (evil, evil Petco.)

I was just admiring the little guys in the store when one of the employees commented to me that one of them was 50% off due to a 'cosmetic issue.'

The 'cosmetic issue' is scoliosis! Petco's crappy crappy diet has caused a kink in this poor little guys spine that is clearly visible to even an untrained eye. He was also severely dehydrated and borderline emaciated.

Needless to say I swept him up and took him to my exotic veterinary hospital. Currently he is on meds for his parasite load (evil Petco), pain and calcium levels. He seems to be far less lethargic than he was, but he is still not eating on his own, and hasn't pooped since I got him on Fed 1.

We need some well wishes and crossed fingers! Wish us luck!
    Thanks.

    Just curious.

In your experience how long can a crested gecko go before he poops? My sick baby hasn't gone #2 since I got him on 2/1...

If he's pretty small, the poops might be camouflaged in the substrate if you're using loose substrate. But if you're using paper towels, and still not seeing anything I'd say 2 weeks is pushing it. People on other forums say as long as you see poops then your gecko is eating. If you're not seeing poops I'd be worried after two weeks. But, geckos typically don't starve themselves so it might just be adjusting still.

have you tried putting the CGD on his nose and letting him lick it off? Thats what I usually do with new geckos to mkae sure they're eating.

Good luck with him, I hope he makes a full recovery for you. Pics?

He finally pooped last night, thank goodness! I have been syringe feeding him on a nightly basis and it seems to be working so far. I will be sure to get pics up soon - thanks for the well wishes!
