Exclamation My new pastel just will not shed all the way, any help?

I've had him for about 3 weeks now and man have I tried EVERYTHING I can think of to help him finish his shed. Well the top of his back from about the neck to tail just will not come off. I've let him soak time and time again in warm water almost every night (except for the two nights after eating) I have a huge stone water dish in his enclosure, a sterilite bowl with a hole cut in top for him to drink or soak, and a towel over the top. I mist the darn enclosure up to 5 times a day as well. I've even tried to help him with a warm wet wash rag after I pull him out of his soak.
Getting quite frustrating, it's been over two weeks now. He is still eating VERY good though.

Also how do I add a picture, what's this URL deal about?

    Thanks so much!

In my experience, once they get most of it off they stop trying. Try taking a warm, wet towel and letting her crawl through it. Gently getting it off yourself. What is your set up like? Are you measuring humidity?

My spiders have trouble shedding everytime. I just give them a little extra humidity, like 70%.

I was starting to believe that maybe it's the whole morph thing that causes them to have poor sheds. my normal goes into her soak box and sheds in a day all in one.
Unfortunately, yes I have tried the warm wet towel trick to no avail. it seems to just irritate the lil guy the more I try. I just don't want it to become a serious issue.
20 gallon long fish tank, screen top w/towel on top. Big stone water bowl, sterilite soaking bowl/drinking. I mist my cage a lot. and although I do this the humidity only stay's around 40 percent.
I wish he would just slither into his soaking container and get it over with. but he's young yet. My female took right to her soak box.

Hmmm. Yeah, tanks are terrible with humidity. When my are coming out of blue I spray morning and night, but there are times I have missed and have some shed pieces. If that happens I take a wet towel and throw it over there hide to let them rub on it. That might work. Just don't leave it in for very long. Also, a room humidifier might work too. I keep one in my ball room during the winter.

Also, my first baby was in a 50 gallon. Becuase I didn't have a clue as to what I was doing. To help humidity in there, I took a drinking cup, filled it with a few inches of water and draped paper towel strips into the water and hanging off the side. But, that will mold if left for too long. Have you tried switching your substrate?

I do believe I will add a humidifier to my room, that was going to be my next option, funny you mentioned that. That should kill any problems in the future, I can only hope. It's cold in MI right now, heck the whole U.S. is, so I have the heat on a lot.

    Thank you again, take care

Well thank you much for your info

I was also thinking of adding a small humidifier to my house because the air is just so dry these days. I am in Illinois, so I feel ya.

As for the shed on the back, you should be able to pull it off after you give the snake a 20-30 minute soak in a closed container (with air holes). I usually use a wet paper towel and just roll it off, front to back. The snakes hate it, but it gets the job done!

And really, as long as there isn't any shed going all the way around the whole body, the snake should be fine. Hopefully the next shed takes it all off!
