    Home Made tubs?

So I've been thinking about switching to all out racks for my ASFs... I've tried a rack a couple times with no success due to chewing, so I was trying to think of a cheap/fool proof tub for ASFs. My question is would sheet metal work? If I folded sheet metal into a tub looking style and welded it would that work? Or would there be a negative effect on the metal due to the urine? Any input or thoughts or advice is always welcomed and loved.

The urine would probably cause a problem?
Why weld unless you just want to play with the tig and use up gas, why not rivet one up just to try it out

put something in the cage for them to chew on and use tubs with very little edges that they can clamp onto. cat litter boxes work pretty well, Ive also herd people suggest cement motor tubs.

I think its more work than its worth, find the right tub and give em something to chew on, block of wood works wonders.

Making tubs out of metal isn't a great idea. It will corrode over time.

I contacted a lot of companies about making me some HDPE tubs and all of them needed me to order upwards of 5000 tubs. I just couldn't do it.

    :'(

I had them in litter boxes in a rack, I don't know if the thickness of a CD was too much but they chewed right through the tub. I have 1 group that hasn't done any chewing and 3 that just love to chew, I've tried throwing blocks in there for them to chew along with toilet paper rolls anything and everything with no success. I figured that the urine would prolly make it corrode quicker but wasn't too sure. I figured if they can chew through sheet metal then I don't want the damn things anyways, lol. I also wanted to look at possibly making some maternity tubs for my rats and figured sheet metal would be way cheaper than 10.00 a tub! Guess I'm off to try and think of something else
