Has anyone ever had males lock?

Ok I know this is a very odd question. I bought a "male" lesser last year in hopes of making kingpins this year with my female pin. Now when I first received "him" I probed him and got approximately 10-12 scales, NOT pressing hard by any means. I have probed many snakes and understand how to probe. I am not very comfortable on popping yet and just prefer to probe. I have watched all the videos and have a friend who is quite a large breeder and have watched it done but just prefer not to YET. Anyway on with the story, this so called male lesser has not been cooperating this season with any of my girls and he is around 850 grams. So I just put him back in his own tub and went on with my season hoping maybe he would be ready later. Well I had some geckos hatch and needed a quick tub to hold them for a week or so while I get my hatchling rack built so I put my male albino, who has been copulating with everything and anything, in with the male lesser for a short stint. This was yesterday. Today I went back to put the albino in with another girl after his 3 days of rest and what do I find but him locked with the lesser. So either I have a switch hitting lesser or it completely was mis-sexed by me and a few others. I immediately bothered them to get the albino off because if the lesser is a female she is way too small for breeding but would like to know if anyone has had this happen with two males?

Also I did a little research but did not find info anywhere that if it were to be a female that it could be injured in any way from possibly being probed to deep? Or is it possible that it could just be a female with the hemipenes pockets? I figure it would make a male infertile if the probe is jammed through the hemipenes but what about a female seems how there is technically no sexual features there (with exception to the scent glands, but obviously those are working)?
Sorry for the long post, Thanks in advance for any info.

Well normaly they would fight if they are both males. It is possible that your albino dominated him and is "punishing" him (sorry tried to be family freindly with my explanation)

Has anyone ever had males lock?
    Yes

Something I bought as a female (didn't check upon arrival) was paired and did lock with one of my male

I got suspicious when the said "female" was paired with another male and started to fight

Lesson that day was always sex your animals upon arrival even when coming from people you trust.

I had sexed this snake upon arrival becaus it was from a new source that had some bad rep in the BOI that happened after I had made my purchase. The snake probed 10-12 subcaudal scales and I figured it to be a male for sure. As I stated I am not very comfortable with popping yet so I had not popped. My question was more out of concern on the snake being injured or even breedable anymore. As there are really no sex organs behind the cloaca for a female I figured it to still be breedable and being in my possesion and feeding for almost a year not to say also locking with my male I would be led to believe that it is not injured. Just looking for similar instances if there are any.

Its a dominance thing, my bullies would try to do it all the time when there was a new dog here.

Can the animal be injured and probe male? Absolutely Will the animal still able to breed? Yes

Did you probe on both sides?

Now chances of a female being sold as a male is less likely than than the opposite though it can still happen if the seller sexed the animal once and put the wrong label on it and never re-sex it before shipping.

What I would still encourage you to do is to have someone pop the animal, I am sure you can find someone local that can do it for you and teach you in the same time.

Here is my pastel courting a Lesser male...I don't know if he would breed "completely" if I didn't separate them.

I put these two males together because the lesser is a very shy breeder (actually this year he has not copulate with any female at all) and the pastel is a very aggressive breeder.

When they were housed together (without females in the tub) to "fight", nothing happened...maybe the presence of the female confused him

So is the pastel teaching the lesser how to breed or is he just plain dominating the lesser

The Lesser bred five females last season so I think he should know how to do his job.
    Go figure

    Go figure
I understand, I have a proven male black pastel that is dragging his butt this season.
Pretty frustrating since he's got a beautiful albino girl that likes him...
He's locked 2 times since September, argh...
