    Year round breeding posiible?

Hey guys im new to ball python breeding and wanted to breed my new male pastel about 4 years old and weighs in at rufly 1200g(got it from someone who told me he was bred 2 seasons ago) with my normal bp which ways rufly 1600G(has never been bred)...I know that the breeding season is typically from october through march and people begin cooling down around October and start introducing their males to females late novembor...since i just got my male i was unable to do this but still want to breed them...
    My questions are the following...

Is it to late in the season to start the cooling down period?
Is it possible to still get these two to breed?
Do people only breed during the winter or can the conditions be simulated and breed year round??

Any sucess stories with breeding in the spring or even summer????
Like I said I am new to all of this so any help would be greately appreciated....

From what I've been told and read snakes usually breed in winter months but I also know people who breed all year round which I'm gonna try to breed my pastel male with my normal girl as soon as I can but all you can do is try and see they might and then again they might not

as long as you can control their temps then you can cool. Ive had pairs lock without even cooling.

    Re: Year round breeding posiible?

Ok thanks guys so cooling down helps but is not a necessity...
Im curious to know how many clutches people have actually gotten from a female in one year....

Also I have been told that if you want to breed you cant keep your females and males together throughout the year...anyone have any success breeding males and females that have been together year round????

Any other tips for sucessfull breeding? should i continoue to feed regularly???

    Re: Year round breeding posiible?

    Wow really?
its so odd because i hear something different from everywhere I look...many places like this website say otherwise...some people say if you keep your males and females togethor they will begin to think there almost brother and sister...where as if you keep them apart for the majority of the year then introduce them it's more natural the way it would be in nature and give you a higher chance of them breeding???

    http://www.ballpython.ca/gallery/breeding.html

    apparently this info is reputable...

but I guess there is more then one way of doing something...what i want to know is the best way of doing it that gives me the highest chance of them locking and my female producing!!!!

Together as in the same tub/tank maybe. But having them in the same rack is no problem. I wouldn't keep them together in the same tub year round.

Same rack ok.. same tub/tank not ok all year round..

And I wouldn't try to breed a female more then once a year. After breeding it takes a long time to get them back to healthy and put weight back on her. You don't want a skinny starving snake to try to breed and die!

People breed there snakes all year round. as long as you give them what they need and both are healthy there is no prob. But it seems to be easier and get more done when you breed during the winter!
