    Snake dislikes hides?

My python Mitch really needed some new hides. (which are hard to find!) She was at the point where she had to pile up on herself to fit in the hide, so i found some army helmets at the dollar tree. She doesn't seem to like the helmets. Sometimes she goes in them, sometimes she goes in with her head a few inches out of the hide, sometimes she wraps herself around the helmet... its strange. Does she not like them? Is it a color thing? Here are some pictures

They are to roomy ! Snakes like dark and tight hides, they like it when the sides and tops of their hides touch them all around.
Try to find something darker, and also not so tall perhaps ?
I find that my snakes don't mind so much when the hides are a bit wider then what they need, but they don't like real roomy, light or tall hides !

ish......but I prefer to not spend that much on a hide that isn't any better than something I can get at HOME DEPOT/LOWES

In the outdoor department there is a HUGE wall of flower pots. Keep going til u get to the plastic ones. Now mind you these will have to be cut down to size to fit in tubs normally but for you, they should be cut down to make the hide the smallest it can be but yet comfy. I normally cut the pots so they are about 6 inches tall. This method makes the hide has less diameter so you can me it to the size you want.
AND they only cost about 2 bucks.

Yeah they are too roomy. The BP should have to ball up a bit and be squished inside its hide. I also use plastic flower pots because they are cheap, easy to cut down/make a doorway in, come in all sizes, and they don't look too bad! You can get the ceramic/clay flower pots if you want, but it's hard to chip a doorway out without cracking the whole thing and breaking it. I always pick up my flower pots in the fall when they go on sale, I got these for 15 cents a piece!
