    Rack system needs help.

I just bought this rack system from a website for my bps.

It comes with the heat tape installed. I also bought a Thermostat to control the temp.

I set the temp to 92 and when the temp reach 92, the Thermostat will shut the power off and then turn it on again.

What happen is, when it gets 92, the Thermostat shuts off the power, then one min later, it turns on again, then next min it shuts off.

So this thing go on and off every 1 or 2 mins. Is this normal? Is this how is should work?

    Thanks

If the thermostat is not proportional than yes it's normal, it will cut on and off.

Thank you. Which one is better? I mean which one will last longer or make the heat tape last longer?

    Thanks for the help

Yup like stated above, it's probably an on/off thermostat, meaning it stays on until temp is reached, and as it cools, it kicks in again to bring temps back to whatever u set it at. If your looking for a digital proportional, look into a Herpstat. It gives constant power to reach desired temp, then pulses to stay at that temp. They work very well, I have 2 and wouldn't trade them for any other thermostat!

ANeither will make your heat tape "last longer". But proportional is by far the best you can buy at the moment, from what I know anyway. There is a big price difference but well worth it!
