    Feeding question...

...ok, I currently feed my BP's every Sunday. They range from 150-210g and are currently eating one adult mouse per feed. I've been told by a few local breeders that mice are healthier than rats. So, I was going to start feeding two mice now. My question is, should I feed them two on Sunday or, one on Thursday and one on Sunday? Also, is this true about mice being healthier than rats? Having enough mice is not a issue. I am currently breeding them and just had my second liter this week. Thank you for looking and for and guidance!

Ive never heard of either being healthier. Just rats having thicker bones so more calcium. But i feed 2 lg mice to my 250grm butter and he takesem both every friday. Either or, is fine. But handle at a VERY minimal because feeding more frequently to the juvi's means they need more time to rest and digest.

Then I guess I will just feed them 2 on Sunday. How long should I wait in between mice?

Wait until they put their jaw back in place, and start moving around the cage.

    Re: Feeding question...

Or you could go with one mommy mouse. But I want you to think about the future. Some snakes once they feed on mice, they won't feed on rats. What are you going to do when your snake is 1500 grams? Are you going to be interested in feeding the snake 4-6 mice each week?

    Just some food for thought,
    Jim Smith

    ps pun intended.

Second that... I try to get mine on rats ASAP mostly because when they are adults multiple mice for multiple snakes equals far toooo many rodents.
