scratched eye
alright so my 6 month old ball python was feed today by my mom and sister (I feed it live) and they saw that she was bleeding when I looked at my bp I saw that her left eye is white/clear looking and has a scratch going down the middle-ish part..........Im worried about what problems this will create for her and if I need to treat her in anyway
Thank you, Melissa

Did they happen to see if possibly the feeder animal bit your balls eye? This is a risk feeders biting as
They are fighting for their lives essentially. It's a risk that we take when we feed live. If this did happen feeder bites can lead to infection, as well as an injury like this could result in blindness. Take him to the vet to get his eye looked at. In future feedings feed frozen thawed or fresh killed. If your ball is picky and you absolutely have to feed live you could stun the feeder or you will have to watch extremely carefully.

my mom and sister said when it was bleeding from the top of the head.

if you cant afford a vet you shouldnt have animals.
with that said, if it is the top of its head it may have just hit a scale and its not too bad. you really need to look and see how bad it is. it may just need some neosporin and kept clean and wait til he sheds or u may need a vet. if its his eye then you will need to see a vet.

Yes since you are going the irresponsible route and trying to home fix the injury, post pictures so we can see them. I always recommend having a vet to go to or at least a good friend who is a vet.
I feed live every day and if one of my animals happens to get injured, i take the appropriate steps and take them to a vet immediately. That being said everything has been safe so far and i always make sure the rat in in a good grip before moving on to the next animal.
Once again, pictures, pictures, pictures.

Defiantly pics would be very helpful. I agree, not to bash it in, But when you own exotics you must be vigilant and always have a bit of $ set aside for a vet bill. If you absolutely must try home remedies get betadine solution from any drug store and clean it with that once a day. I don't recommend using neosporine or tripple a as they are oil based and will soften the scales potentially making the injury worse. The betadine cleaning will be very helpful. Also look for signs of infection. At the point of infection he will need antibiotics and my only thought on that is it will be imperative he goes to the vet to receive them. Reptile infections are no joke. If you at that point cannot pay for it see if the vet will do a payment plan. Or you will have to give the animal to someone that can give him the nessecary and proper treatment. Unfortunately you risk this everytime you feed your animal live. Feeding stunned or fresh killed will greatly improve your animals chance of never having problems at feeding time.

Just so everyone knows, the picture of the snake I posted shows an eye that is cracked from dehydration, that is not a scratch, and it healed up nicely when I jacked the humidity up.
I agree the OP needs to post a picture of the snake if he can.
side note *I've fed thousands of rats live and had very few bites, all minor*
