    Ball Python caging size

I am probably getting a new ball python soon. I don't want to buy a glass tank or a custom one. It would be cheaper to get a plastic storage container. So what is a GOOD container size for an adult ball python. Please put the length, width, and height. Also will the container hold good humidity?

    all replies are appreciated

yes the humidity will be very good. If you want to get a "tub" for an adult I would recommend a 35q tub the sterilite dimensions are 24.5" L by 16.25" W by 7.5"H I recommend also to get one with a locking lid because you dont have to use clamps to know the tub is secure.

the above link is an example of one I have that works great for me.

I will say I had to drill holes for ventilation and humidity control ( it was too high) but the tub took less time to set up and works so much better than the tank we had for our first girl. Just be sure to get a UTH with the proper temps and regulation, hides and a water bowl and decide on a substrate and the tub will maintain husbandry like a champ.

alot of people use sterlite tubs because you can get them anywhere. either a 28q/32q (one of them got discontinued) or a 41q depending on how big the adult is.

    Thanks I missed that!

the tub size will work, they hold humidy well but not heat. They cool off very quickly and heat quickly.

A custom enclosure around the 24x24x12 or 18 inch range holds both humidy and heat but costs a lot more. At least you can see into it. The snakes hide but a captive enviroment can be made that is pleasing to look at.

Tanks are harder to balance the temps and humidy but are cheap and look good too. They take more fiddling.

read the care sheets and plan what you want a simple time set up with a lower cost that is space efficient. A elabourate easy to look after enclosure, or a inexpensive tank that needs a bit of effort to get right. Planning ahead is very important, the enclosure should be set up for a week or so with out occupants so you can get the temps right with out concern for the occupants.

    Good luck
    Alex
