Is it a burn???

HELP!!! picked up my little ball python today, and I noticed on alot of his under side, it is red and sorta peely looking, and no, it is not a shed... ill try to provide photos, but i need to know I need to bring him to a herp vet, or let him be. what do i do?

my bet's on he's fixin to shed... but no pics, no help..... everyone on here is pretty good at being the vet for ya.


edit: oh and you know my bumble bee has a couple scales on her belly from squeezing into a hide to small for her(problem solved by the way and she's doing better.)

What do you use for a heat source ?

If you have chosen the wrong source, or the right one but it isn't regulated, it could very well be a burn. Unfortunately, ball pythons aren't the best at judging when temps are too high.

I would say take it to a vet and be safe. A burn can easily get infected and create a lot of problems. To me the $35 for an office visit to find out nothing is wrong, versus $300+ for treating a severely infected burn that will leave permanent scar, I'd go with the reassurance that nothing is wrong.
