    Show Strategies

So we've got the NARBC show coming up in february that I was planning on going to. I'm not sure if I want to get anything yet, but just in case I need to decide which day to go b/c its a busy weekend for me. So here's my question:

Is it better to go at the very start of the show when theres more availability, or towards the end of the show when they may (i dunno if they do, its just what I'd do if I were a seller) be more up for negotiating prices. Or does it not really matter?

    Thanks!

    Re: Show Strategies

People looking for good deals usually go the last day towards the end, some breeders do not want to go back home with tons of animals therefore lower their price.

I tend to go early on the first day because if I decide to pick an animal the good deal is not my priority, my priority is to find an outstanding animal and those usually don't remain available very long

I have to say this year the very beginning is going to be the time to go. Current economic conditions have created some steep discounts already and I think a lot of breeders are at or close to rock bottom prices already. That means you get your pick of nice animals at a nice price, or you wait till the last day and get what is left over at possibly a decent price. If the show goes good you could find nothing decent available on the last day as people can only bring so many animals with them.

I normally go early knowing exactly what I want with cash in hand.
With just a wee bit of haggling you should be able to get a good deal.

We went first thing the first day and got a heck of a deal. Great prices to begin with plus they threw in a freebie, can't beat that
