    and what could this be?

I recently realized my tstat was pitching temps sky high so I bought a herpstat and am waiting for it to arrive. what I thought that was causing these strange lines was the paper towel scrunched up where he was laying and it getting hot enough to leave an impression on his belly. the normal female in the same rack had one of these but it went away when I turned the temp down. any ideas?

yeah he really didn't want to lay still lol. it could be but if it is it'd have to be pretty minor, the burn pics I've seen all look very severe compared to whatever this is.

If that is a burn, it's very minor and you caught it in time. If a snake gets burned and the scales behind to rise away from the body, discolor, or become blister like, then it needs to go to the vet for silver burn cream and possibly antibiotics. If none of this happens then you will be ok.

Keep in mind that for about the first year, you can see the line on the snakes belly where the umbilical cord was and going farther down it's belly. Kind of like a seam. This is normal and will become more pronounced before they are going to shed. The belly will begin to turn pink before the eyes cloud or the body gets dull.

awesome. that's very good to hear and I appreciate the response. the pastel in question is an 05 but that information is very helpful for my soon to be hatchlings this year so thank you. I'm going to keep an eye on him and if anything seems blister like I'll act accordingly. thanks again!
