my BP keeps using the hide on her c ool side, which made me think she outgrew the other one... so I switched them around, and she always ends up on the cool side.... the hot side is same temperature its always been @ like 89 w/ the thermostat.....

Don't fret so much about it. They're not predictable creatures with a set pattern of thermo behavior. The snake knows what it wants and needs. So long as you have adequate hides on both sides of the enclosure, you have done all you need to do. Relax and enjoy your pet!!

What are you using to measure your temps on the hot side? you might try double checking the temp with something else to make sure its not too hot if the temp is good you have nothing to worry about that is the whole point of having a hot and cool side so they can choose the temp they want.

digital thermometer probe between uth and glass, another one w/ probe inside tank nezzled under his hide in the aspen, one of those liquid crystal ones on side of tank... and one in the upper region lol.

all of them read ok, so im pretty sure its ok

i didnt realize how big shes got, damn... now im starting to worry because she has never bit me or anyone, and im sure shes due for one, and now that shes huge, eeeeeeeeep

when they bite is it more like a defensive warning nip or actual bite to try and eat ya lol

If your hand has rodent scent on it...or if your hand is too close to the snake during a feeding time...then she may bite with intent to eat. That is the more painful sort of bite, because they don't want to let go. But they will. Just don't panic. It's a little startling at first, but nothing you can't handle.

More often, it's a defensive bite, which will usually happen so fast you won't even register that it occurred until after the snake has already withdrawn. Just a pinch and a few drops of blood. No biggie at all...and usually so quick you don't even have time to be startled.

All that being said...just because she's gotten bigger doesn't mean she's "due" to bite. I've got one BIG guy I've had for three years now...and he's been handled by lots of different people (is our "spokes-snake" at shows) and has never bitten nor shown any inclination to do so.

Ok well, I never touch the mouse... and I have a separate 20 long tank for her feeding... and usually don't take her out for like 10 minutes after she's done... so hopefully i dont smell like mouse or interupt!
