    I killed a rabbit today

    a paper rabbit at least

Spend a cabelas gift certificate on a cold steel big bore blowgun (seen here: http://www.coldsteel.com/bigboreblowgun.html) and an extra package of mini broadhead darts.

A bit of leftover insulation from when I last ordered ratcicles for my snakes make for a perfect homemade foam target background. Google search for a printable rabbit target, and I was ready to go!

After shooting off a couple dozen practice shots, I put myself to the test and put up my target. Here's the results with 12 darts measured at 12 yards!

    4 center mass hits:

I'm still working on my technique for velocity. You can really feel the pressure when you get your air released just right, and the difference in penetration on different shots is definitely visible. The one that made it through furthest REALLY had some kinetic energy.

I even "Robin-hooded" one of my darts:

This thing sure is fun. I'm thinking of picking up a small game license for the last month and a half of hare and squirrel season. I need some new natural fibers for tying flies for upcoming open water fishing anyways, might as well harvest it myself!
