I swore I'd never do it!
But I did, I went and saw a craigslist BP. And yes, of course it was a no go. There was a gal that got the BP from someone who got the BP and it looked huge for a male. I asked the girl if I could come sex the BP to make sure it was a male, and if it wasn't then I would take it. Popped it, of course, sperm. Then I weighed him, 1,800 grams! He's a BIG boy! The other issue was that he had the starting of scale rot so I suppose it's a good think he didn't turn out a she. The owner is a college student and went home for the 2 month break leaving her roommate to care for the BP. Get this, her roommate didn't put water in his bowl once. She didn't know she needed to water him.... She luckily 'sprayed' his tank daily which I'm guessing is why he didn't die and how he got scale rot. Some people....

No, if it would have turned out a female I probably would have. Though I wouldn't have paid much for a snake with scale rot, so who knows if she still would have sold it to me. Hopefully the next person who looks at him knows what they are doing and gets things sorted out. He also hasn't ate for two months, but I'm sure the proper set up would fix that right away.

That's so sad, poor thing. I would have picked it up anyway, fixed it up and found him a new home, but thats me I guess. Im doing that with one I have now actually. Not saying your a bad person for not picking him up though, just to clear that up

She wasn't even going to take $40 for him, there's no way I was going to pay very much for a male with scale rot.

That stinks...but you can't save 'em all. There are balls all the time on CL and at Petco, etc. that look terrible. I'd be overrun if I brought them all home.
Lucifer Sam, Siam cat...

That cat's something I can't explain...

Yeah That's exactly why I didn't want to go look at CL BPs, it seems like they all have problems! I definitely would have taken him for a low price, but she paid a ton of money for him, so I suppose I can't blame her for wanting a bit of it back.

He has a home. The people have had bps before, so hopefully it's a good fit for him!
