What do u think?
Hey guys,
just wondering if you think this is a reasonable deal,
36"X18"X18"-Melaimine Vivarium (including 200w screw fitting with plug)
Pulse Proportional thermostat DAY/NIGHT (microclimate B2ME)
Substrate- X2 10l bags of Orchid Bark Chips
Analogue Thermostat/Hygrometer
Medium Water Dish
150w ceramic heat bulb
bulb guard
Medium Flat Exp-Terra Tub (this is to put inside the tank for the snake to live in until it reaches a reasonable size for the vivarium, as the vivarium could stress out the snake because of the size.)
All of this come to £235.95
What to you guys think of this, do you think this is a reasonable price? and btw the snake it only going to be a few months old, this is why i am keeping it inside the exo-terra tub which will go inside of the vivarium.
Thanks

Re: What do u think?
It doesn't sound too bad to me. Personally I don't use any ceramic bulbs because it's impossible to keep the humidity up. You would be better off using an under the tank heat pad and in that case, I would also change your substraint. They tend to shove around the chips and you don't want them sitting directly on the UTH or they could get burned. Hope this helps a bit.

Is a 150w bulb a bit much for an 36x18 or am I mistaken?

Hey thanks for the feedback,
i am going to be getting a uth aswell dw, also i didn't realise that they could do that to the substrate i think i will swap it for aspen instead. Also is there any other bulbs that i could use instead of a ceramic bulb just to make sure the temps are high enough. Also im not 100% sure but from what i have been told a 150w bulb is fine aslong as it is on a thermostat.
once again thankyou for the feedback

Infrared bulbs are nice since they can be left on day/night- snakes can't see them. Thats what I keep on my baby cage.
A 75w IR bulb and UTH w/ thermostat is easily keeping my 20x12 baby enclosure hot side ambient at 86 degrees and the floor of her hot hide is 93. The bulb is not nearly running at full power either.
Based on that I would think that a 100w IR would work fine for you in an 18 deep, as your thermostat would probably keep your 150w down quite low. Regardless, either way you should be fine.
I know my Bredli prefers the heat of her 100w IR to her 100w daybulb.

Thankyou for you feedback i think i will do what you said and go for a infared 100w bulb as it makes more sence. Also the other thing i am not 100% sure about is what side the UTH should go on, should it be under the light bulb or on the other side.
Thnakyou :]

I have the heatmat and bulb on the same side, that way the cold side gets down to the low 80s, high 70s at worst.
