it might cost a little more but if he decides he likes mice and wont take rats eventually the $18.75 bag of mice is 2 feedings

    Re: Feeding Mice

Personally I'd stick with rats, and I'd also shop around for better prices if you're shopping online(I know rodentpro has better prices than that..only by a few bucks but still), but if you're getting your rats straight from a breeder(who is friendly) I'd just go with it and maybe try to negotiate lower prices if you buy in bulk. But in the end its really up to you.

if he's 43" long weaned rats should be too small unless he is under weight.

something as big around or a little bigger than the girth of the snake or 10-15% of the weight of the snake

I'm surprised at how many people resort to the "as big around or slightly larger" rule when people ask about ordering online.

Keep in mind, most new snake owners don't know how big around a small rat is vs a weaned rat vs a large rat.

The 10-15% rule has it's own flaws, but it's definitely easier to follow when ordering online in the beginning.
