    Pure Cypress Mulch/ Cypress Blend

For quite some time I have been thinking about and researching the pros and cons of switching from paper to cypress mulch for both my ball and blood pythons.

I have looked at various places offering bagged cypress such as serpenturf, pro exotics, etc. and am concerned that this is not a very price efficient way of using cypress as I have more than just a few snakes, but not enough that I would need pallets or large amounts of cypress.

A lot of individuals claim that the "no float" that HD offers is a good solution as the bags are very affordable, however I believe that what HD offers is a blend rather than pure cypress. I have also heard that small amounts of pine are not of concern, while others stray away from using any type of blend.

My question: Has anybody had success using the blends, or is it wise to pay extra and look into cypress from the various companies I have listed above? I really have not gathered enough information to make a final decision and was hoping I would hear from others who have had success. I have also contacted quite a few nurseries in my area, however most are closed for the season and most larger mulch companies will only sell in bulk, or deliver further away from where my residence is in Potomac, MD.

I appreciate all your thoughts and advice. Pat

Pine is sort of an unknown.

I would trust pine more if it was kiln dried pine, and I'm not sure you could tell if it is in a mixture like that.
