    New Breeder

Hi im new to the BP world and I would like to get into breeding I currently own a female pastel and a male normal and am looking to build a reptile rack and head to the Reptile show in LA this weekend. I have two well alot but ill only ask these two questions. Whats a good snake to breed my pastel to, and is it better to raise the snakes then breed or get breeding age size snakes. I will be looking to get a few more snakes this weekend. So plz tell me what u think.

You gotta pick one that makes you say "WOW I love that". Do your homework make good decisions these combos and breeding's take years to fulfill.

Be prepared to house many babies too.

Take potential Supers and combos into consideration.

Welcome aboard!!!!! There is a wealth of knowledge on here take advantage of it.

I think its better to grow up some snakes to adault hood then breed them then getting full breeders. I would maybe grab a spider or a bee
If you grow them up you get alot of experience with things you might run into and with a babies you need to be able to handle it more so then a snake thats already ate a bunch of times before you get them

Check out this link, and I am sure that you will find some cool morphs. To me the biggest things that I look for is something that I really want and can't afford.

    Re: New Breeder

Going simply on what you've posted here so far....what I would suggest is to simply look for the morphs that you LOVE that fit your budget. Buy a baby or two and raise them up....and while they are growing up, you can begin the life-long journey of learning the ins and outs of breeding and the various morphs and combos and how to run a successful breeding endeavor. Build your business model...make your plans for breeding projects...figure out what size collection you'd like to work toward and how you plan to house and feed it...as well as plans for housing and caring for all the offspring you produce.

It's a fun journey, but takes patience and a willingness to learn and plan rather than jump in buying a bunch of snakes and hoping they make babies.

Well, I haven't started breeding yet. But, you've gotten the same advice I was given two months ago. Now I have 3 female morphs I like. I'm going to get a male in a year or so. So, I can start my breeding! Get a few females you like. Then after they're about half way to maturity. Get a male or two! Good luck and welcome!
