    Bowl Wrapping

Here's our largest female (Harriett) now. She's not doing much of anything else.

She has never bred before. We got her from someone who had her for 10 years, and they don't remember how old she was when they got her. She's about 2700 grams empty. Haven't checked the weight lately, though.

At what point would you say she is? Is this a part of building? She has paired and locked with our male mojave a few times now. She won't have anything to do with eating, or the male anymore...

Would you say her next shed should be her pre-lay shed? As I recall, it's been about 4-5 weeks since she shed last.

Anyway, if it's not already obvious, this is our first breeding season.
Lots of BPs, and still not enough!

This is addictive...what did I get myself into?...

Wrapping is building. Once ovulation happens they stay on heat 24/7

    Re: Bowl Wrapping

Bowl wrapping, laying cold, and glowing are all part of the building process. I would continue to pair her until she is about to ovulate. This can take several weeks to months depending on how fast she builds. during this time you can palpate her to check on follicle growth. Ovulation is when she swells up like she swallowed a football. After that is the post ovulation shed then 30 to 45 days later and she lays eggs. Then it is into the bator for a 60 day wait. Hope this helps.
