is it possible for a ball python to be infertile?
i have a female ball python that was 2,702 grams on nov 7, i paired her up with 2 males on nov 10 i had and i witnessed locks with both of them.
yesterday she ate a small rat and what she likes to do is put her body under the heat light and her head and neck inside the water bowl.
how much longer will it be til she stops eating or lays?

Two lock's you need to keep pairing them up and keep breeding..two locks while it is possible to do the job isn't any where near enough breeding (with out an ultrasound, good planning ect)
Keep pairing them up.. till she Ovulates or you figure out she's not going to produce this year

Re: is it possible for a ball python to be infertile?
You need to continue to pair her until you see an ovulation - which may not happen until as late as April.
It's still early!

The short answer to your thread title is yes. Any species of animal can be infertile or sterile. To answer the question in your thread body (expounding on Ed's response), is that some female will quit eating while their follicles are building, some won't stop eating until they have ovulated, and some will eat right up to within a week of laying eggs. As far as how long it will take for her to lay eggs, pay attention to her, and once she ovulated, you can start looking for eggs about 40-45 days later (a tad longer in some instances).
Hope that helps,

If you want good pics of what the whole process looks like, check out this site : http://www.ballpython.ca/gallery/breeding.html
It wont give you the months, but I recommend doing A LOT of research in the next few months as you continue your pairing of the two snakes. There is a lot involved and you need to make sure youre ready when and if she does decide to lay eggs. Good luck
