Dehydrated Ball

We have a ball python here at work who is sick. The last half of his body would swell up really bad like he couldn't poop. His cloaca was also irritated. He went to the vet and was prescribed metronidazole to help his constipation and chlorhexadine to soak his cloaca in.

After a soak in the chlorhexadine he peed a lot. He also passed a small amount of feces. After a second soak a few days later he did the same thing. Now I just got to work and he looks like this.

OMG that poor little guy! I think a nice long soak might be in order for him.

I have no idea but I would venture to guess maybe the chlorohexadine is drying out his skin??? I would soak him in water for a bit each day and only soak his cloaca in the solution. (You can actually just clean it with a Qtip and the solution.) I might also try to take a wet washcloth and put it over his hide. This seems to work wonders as not only does it keep up the humidity but it also gives them something to rub on.

You need to soak him in warm water/pediolite mixed 50/50. This will add extra nutrients as he soaks. Get the clear pediolite. I agree the solution might be drying him out.
