Gah i need your help with heating.

I thought i had things right but i want to make it more right.
Okay, i have no pictures, i have 1 20G long tank and 1 28Q sterlight tub.
I bought Zoo Med Repti-Temp Rheostat at petsmart but i am not liking it much. I also got a UV 40 watt bulb light becuase its been cold in the house lately.

So lets see, i got 2 medium exo terra heat waves UTHs. Connected to the Zoo Med Repti-Temp Rheostat. The light i turn on and off in the glass tank during the night and day, though the light is not in the tub. there is a zoo med temp strip on the inside of the glass tank. I didn't put it, the tank came with it.
The temps outside and in the house lately have been 60F day and 43F at night.
the thank strip says 75-80 but that does not help me with the hot spot. plus i have a heater in the room.

I have only 1 hide in the warm side and i know i need another for the cool sides. But i feel like a fail here, can you please just tell me how to fix it. there are so many different things out there for the tanks, i do not know which ones are good, I cannot spend a lot of money on things, most i could spend is maybe no more then $40. So once again, i have 1 tub and 1 glass tank.

if you want to measure the temp on the hot spot and the cool side get an accurite thermometer and i think your talking about the ambient temps being to low and your room heater isn't helping it? try to find a warmer spot you can put them in like closer to the heater. thats the cheapest way i can think of. im sure someone on here has some other ideas.

It sounds like your doing pretty well. If your ambient temps are about 75-80, your hot spot should be around 90. The best way to tell exactly what your hot spot is would be to invest in a temp gun. I highly recommend a temp gun, especially if you plan on adding to your collection in the future. The Bean Farm has some good ones. Also, I'm assuming your bp is in a tank? You mentioned a tank and a tub... If he's in a tank, make sure you keep an eye on the humidity. When I bought my first bp I had him in a tank, got all the fancy crap from the pet store, and soon switched to a tub set up with newspaper substraint and cereal boxes for hides lol. You also may want to check out the caresheets on this forum. You will find pretty much everything you will need to know.

OKay well thank you. Yeah sorry, i have one Bp in a tank and the shyer Bp in a tub where he is somewhat hidden becuase i just got him. The humidity in the tub seems fine but i just bought a thermometer, but i can see the humidity in the tub walls. i was scared for the glass tank. In the tank and tub i have newspaper becuase i found it was easier for the heat to go through without burning or having to set it to high.
I just made two more hides from small children shoe boxes. i have put 2 in the tank and not yet in the tub for the male becuase i am trying not to bother him. He has been very stressed out.

Definitely grab an infrared thermometer. Harbor Freight has them cheap, and they work...
