Anybody know of any rat/mice breeders in the Tucson/Phoenix AZ area?

I'm sick of buying high priced rodents from the reptile stores here. I'd like to buy them frozen in bulk. Any recommendations?

This isn't the first time that I have heard people say that rodents in Arizona are way overpriced.

You should start breeding your own.

I've done that before, it's not worth the savings to me. WAY TOO much work. Plus I live in apartment so I don't have the space.

Re: Anybody know of any rat/mice breeders in the Tucson/Phoenix AZ area?

have you tried looking up "rat/mouse breeders near tuscon/phoenix arizona" on the net?
i'm sure that most of the breeders you'll find on the net though will be selling their animals as pets not feeders. i've already tried looking up breeders and bumped into that little dilemma. there are alot of frozen feeders suppliers on the net though...only thing is the shipping tends to kill you more then the total order price cuz they gotta pack it to where it stays cold til it gets to you...
or even ask your local pet store where they get their rats/mice from...

Yeah that's funny you mentioned him. I went on the Phoenix craigslist and found him listed. I called him up today, gas will be a whole lot cheaper that 60 bucks of shipping. He seems like a quality guy that's been around for years.

Reptile shows are a great place to meet local rat breeders. If you just ask around while you are there you can usually run into some people that can help you out.

Both Tom Pecanic and the guys at Reptiles and Reefs on University are trying to get me to buy my rodents from them. R&R even asked me to bring in my receipts from Big Cheese so they could try to match the prices... but I'm already stocked up until spring, and I really like my vacuum-sealed trays of Big Cheese mice. Plus R&R had a serious issues with odor last time I was there.

Still, I suppose I ought to follow up at least enough to find out everybody's prices. Anybody done rodent biz with either Pecanic or Reptiles and Reefs?

I've only bought a spider male from Tom he seems like a straight forward guy. I should email him to see his prices.
