    Introduction timeline

We only have one breeding pair this year as BPs are somewhat new to us, so I wanted to run this by the group...

My female is proven, and I started cycling her about a week ago (~Dec 1st). It will be the first breeding experience for our male, but he's at about 1200g and should be ready. My plan is to cycle the two of them until the end of February, but should I be putting them together every couple of days during this cycling period or wait til they're done and warmed back up?

    Re: Introduction timeline

You can start pairing them now. You should pair your males with your females until you see ovulations. At that point you can stop. If February comes and you haven't seen ovulations keep pairing. Last year was my first year breeding and i started pairing at the beginning of November but didn't get ovulations until May! The breeding schedules you see are only generalizations and you should not expect your snakes to follow it precisely. As a first time breeder it can get frustrating because your not quite sure if things are going right due to lack of experience. Since my snakes took so long last season by April or so I was convinced that nothing was going to happen. Soon after 100% of my females ovulated and went on to lay fertile eggs.

I like to get a copulation at least every few weeks or so with each female. The most important time to get your males with your females is once you see that they are building/glowing etc as these are signs of follicle growth and the nearing of ovulations.

Thanks - I'm curious to see how this goes. My only breeding experiences so far have been a couple of years breeding green tree pythons and we started breeding corns last year too but we had a rough year with that.

Hopefully we can pop out a couple of spiders next year though!

Same thing was with me last year. started in mid nov pairing and didn't lay eggs till beggining of july. I gave up in june since she shed last in may and thought that waas the 30 day shed.. she was fat and wasn't experinced to know that everything was ok. I kept them paired until end of may.. didn't see much activity for a while though.

and out poped 8 healthy snakes from 8 healthy eggs...
