trying to figure out where to go for New Years....
Ok...well my hubby and I usually go somewhere for New Years with our Son. This year we have 4 days and we don't know what to do.
Here is the criteria...
We want to drive so no more than 12-14 hrs.....
We have our son 10 and then our "live in adopted kind of son"17.
Looked into vegas but quite frankly I have done vegas at new years and it was crazy fun but not a place for my 10 year old. Plus the good hotels are at least $350 a night. That is a little pricey for 3 nights for us right after christmas.
sooo....I am opening this up to you guys. Any suggestions? We are open to anything reasonable but cannot travel to Mexico due to my husbands job.

I would say Whistler, British Columbia, Canada. But you want to drive, so I would go with Cali too, and if you like the Winter sports, you can ski up in Northern Cali anyway, right? Best of both worlds if you enjoying driving along the coast !

How about a quiet New Year's Eve in Yellowstone Park?

It's funny that you should mention this Lizzy because BG was trying to decide the same thing himself. BG isn't sure which fans around the world are going to be lucky enough for him to grace them with his presence. After freezing the BG perfect behind for the last couple of weeks, BG has decided that wherever it is....it's gotta be warm.

Dale I would love to go to Yellowstone.!! I have always wanted to do the snow cat trip out there...but its too far for this trip. We are thinking maybe for spring break though.
I think we have decided either Cali or San Antonio, TX.....??? Nothing I am all goo goo over but it will be ok. Disneyland would be cool but there is NO WAY I can convince the hubby to do that for New Years...lol
BG...you can come with us but you have to behave yourself ok!! lol If not my 10 year old will certainly put you in your place!! Don't mess w his mama... Seriously though...let me know where you decide to go. If its in the same place we should get together and do lunch or dinner.

Re: trying to figure out where to go for New Years....
San Antonio is always lovely to visit at any time of year. I can't remember anything specifically spectacular about their New Year's though. Of course, my hubby and myself are homebodies that night. But definitely a very lovely city to visit. Seems like it might be a bit outside the driving range that you mentioned, but doable.
If I wanted a BIG party city, I'd probably aim for LA or San Diego. I agree that Vegas would not live up to its potential with children in tow. If I just wanted someplace different, and maybe not quite so crowded or intimidating as LA, I'd head for San Antone.

I too would suggest San Diego. Seems like a good choice to me!
Have Fun!
