    Perfect water temperature for bps

Public Service Announcement: Those of you crazies who also occasionally soak or "bathe" your bps: 77F (+/- 1 degree) is the perfect bath water temperature!

Normally everybody (except the pewter and the black pastel) flips out and tries to escape when I put them in the bath. Either the water is too cold, or the water is too hot... but today they all just sat there like they actually enjoyedd it. A couple of them swam around a bit, one of them passed some urates.... but mostly they chilled out. That never happens!

And the pewter stayed there until I drained the water out from under her! I swear she was trying to stop the water from emptying by wrapping her tail around the drain.

I actually prefer to bathe my bp's in warmer water, around 85*F, but it is true that they all seem to have different preferences in temperature.

if its for a bath to help in a stuck shed or so, just luke warm water is fine, doesnt have to be so precise. and if its in their dish i start with luke warm water as well but its going to drop over the next couple days before changing.

It was actually because one of them had roll in the runny poo from last night, and some of the others were just plain stinky. And I agree, it doesn't HAVE to be precise--as long as it's not hot, or really cold.

But usually 2/3 of my animals will thrash like mad and try to get OUT OF THE WATER... which is a pain if I'm actually trying to soak them.

This is the first time they've all sat there placidly. Maybe it's just that the house is so cold, and the water's just a little warmer than the air?

I just soaked my girl for the first time on Tuesady for stuck shed, and she was so relaxed. I used warm water in her tub, and she seemed so relaxed. I put a hide on top of her wash cloth so she could soak slightly and still feel comfy, which was perfect. She swam around for like 5 - 10 minutes, got on her cloth under the hide until I pulled her out like 40 minutes later. I expected her to be much bigger of a pain! Plus she shed perfectly!
