The New and Hopefully Improved Set Up

Here are some pics of Erikson's new set up... What do you think?? I'm using a UTH (which you really can't see from the pictures) and the red bulb)... Hot side belly heat is usually 91, no more than 93, cold side averages around 80, never lower than 76... Ambient was low so I needed the red light and now it is around 80.. Humidity is kind of high, even with the light, in the 70s-80...

Re: The New and Hopefully Improved Set Up

I'd ditch the old school thermometers and hygrometers for a nice digital one. Can get them at any local Petsmart or PetCo for like $10.00.

I would also find a couple hides that aren't so open at the front. Remember ball pythons like to feel snug and secure and those hides will leave a good portion of body exposed.
    I recommend http://www.reptilebasics.com/

Just personal opinion though. Hope it is of some use.

I have a digital one also, its in one of the later pics probably but I know its in there... Thanks for the idea on the hides though.. Its funny because he will change from that hide, to the log, to sitting on top of them lol... It's like it's his own personal jungle gym or playground rather than a hiding spot

Generally that looks quite good, I'd change out the hides too. I would say that a hide that blocks light (mostly at least) is important and the white is likely translucent. Almost anything can work you don't need to buy them building out of a plastic bowl or something can work too.

As to the thermometers if the analogue style are accurate they are great if they are not then they are not so great. The belief that digital is better is a myth, a cheap digital is allowed to be off by 2 degrees and some are actually more than 2 (I have one that is 5 too low!!!) LC ones are usually the most accurate of the cheap thermometers... don't take my word for it check the specs!
