    got a breeding question

Okay, so I've talked to a couple breeders who have said that you can breed year round... exactly how do you do this? Just for an example, let's say that I get an adault male and female that are ready to breed and the female is a good 1300 grams. Could I litteraly just put the female in there (or other way around) and just expect them to hook up? I've read quite a bit about breeder and can't really find a good answer on when exactly you tell when they are ready to breed.

There are sooooooo many things you are missing.

    Is your male producing plugs?
Is your female atleast 2 years old?
Do you know how to pop/probe to make sure your male is a male and female is a female?
Do you have an incubator ready, so you don't have to do a ghetto rig later on?

If you have read "quite a bit about breeding" you would know the signs that the female is ready, who to put into whos cage and what time of year to start breeding.

I think he is actually trying to ask (for people who breed all year round) How do you know if the male/female is ready to go at that time of year...Not necessarily just if he/she is sexually mature enough to breed. I think I get the question, but I'm not sure how to answer it myself. I just know most people start in October/November. This is my first year, so I just followed the book and it seems to be working well for me.

From what I understand, the temps are kept constant year round so there is no cycling. The males and females are put together on a schedule through out the year. I breed on a schedule with temp drops so everyone in my racks go through the same basic cycle.

I think the main thing is whether or not you can find the right temps to cycle them at other times of the year... I know some people don't cycle, but for a lot of people it does help. If nothing else, it might "force" your snakes into being ready (again, assuming they are physically mature enough and all that...) if you can go through the proper cycling for a couple of months beforehand. That way there should be less guesswork as to whether they're "seasonally" ready.
