    Thermostat vs Rheostat

I was wondering on what you guys think is better, a rheostat or a thermostat? And what brands are both affordable and effective? Thanks for your help!

    Re: Thermostat vs Rheostat

rheostats are terrible, dont even bother. for thermostat i used the reptitemp 500R and didnt have any problems with it. only 25$ and u can run a couple UTH's off it. now i have a herpstat and dont have anything bad to say
A room full of empty racks and thermostats that have been unplugged.

Rheostats dont work in rooms not temperature controlled.

Thermostats are the way to go for a set it for get it system. Affordable is Johnsons and Rancos

I personally like Johnsons over Rancos as they are smaller. Herpstat i have is for incubator only

And seeings how your only about 20 mins from me, any help you need just contact me.

x2. I owe herpstat an apology for complaining about it not being accurate before, as it turns out it was only inaccurate because I had it in the tank. I put it directly on the UTH and it is spot on. I'll never get any other brand.
