HELP! need to make a choice
ok, as u might or might not have seen, i am trying to get a female red tail boa in december but last saturday i went in to check on her at the shop im buying her from and i found a amazing male cinni ball python. i have been trying to get a cinni since i frist got into snakes but have yet to even see one in person. i freaked and beg my mom to help me get him but she said if i did i would have to choose between him or ivy (the RTB female) but i have had her on hold for over 2 months now. so i have to choose between my girl i have been looking forward too or my dream cinni bp... idk what to do help me plz

If it's your "dream" to own a cinni, then...

Re: HELP! need to make a choice
This is just my opinion, but I know that I would regret not getting the snake I originally wanted (to me, that would be the red tail boa in this case). I develop strong emotional bonds with my critters, but I realize that not everyone else does. If you can "switch" from one snake to the other that easily, then change your mind. But if you're here asking advice, then I suspect you are torn about the idea of leaving "Ivy" behind. If that's the case, you'll regret not getting her.
Cinnies are great, but they are available and they aren't too outrageous in price either. To be honest, I would suspect that any cinny found in a "shop" might not be as high a quality as you might find from a good breeder (of course there are exceptions!).
But you will always be able to find a cinny - whether you've seen them around or not - they are available and always will be. But Ivy is Ivy and she won't always be there. Just my .02............

Re: HELP! need to make a choice
ty. only thing that is throwing me off is that...ok i am weird and i try to see how much of a connection i can make with any snake i am looking to get and ivy and i connected right off the bat. she was even reaching for me when we pulled her outta the tank then wrapped around me and didnt wanna let go lol. but the lil cinni did something similar only with my wrist but i wasnt trying to connect with him at all i was just curious. after we put him back he got kinda sad. it was cute. ivy get's very pissy when ppl take her away from me to put her back. she even tried to bite her previous owner and she has never done that before lol. i feel loved

ummm... not to be harsh... but I think you may be making up emotions for these snakes that aren't there.
Snakes don't really have a sad expression and the fact that you haven't been bitten by a snake you don't actually own doesn't mean much since you haven't held it as much as the previous owner either.
Ultimately you should decide based on what you want, not how you think a snake feels.

Re: HELP! need to make a choice
Well, I understand what you're saying. It's easy to apply certain emotions to a creature - even emotions we know in our heads aren't really there. I am similar to you in that way.
BUT you should realize that snakes are not like people or mammals. They are cold-blooded and do not respond to us the way a cat or dog might. Does that mean they are not thinking, feeling creatures? No. But it does mean that they process those thoughts and feelings differently from us. They don't truly get attached to us or love us and a ball python will certainly not be "sad" just because you put him down. He may have wanted the chance to get out of his cage again or he might have appreciated the warmth of your hands, but he wasn't sad.
However, a connection with a specific snake or other creature is very real - no matter what the snake is really "feeling" we form bonds in our own minds and attach our own feelings to them. If a connection exists between you and Ivy, that should be your decision right there. As I said before, you can, and one day will, find another cinny. But if you pass on Ivy and the connection you have with her, you won't be able to get it back and you may always regret it. Yes, I'm speaking from experience. Best of luck!

I would figure out where any future animals will be living before bringing anymore into your home.
