    When to start breeding girls?

So my first litter from my hooded Petco girl are all doing good (except the one that managed to break a leg; that was a freak accident) compared to the other girl's litter who either died before being weaned, or died last week all from the same symptoms. (That girl got loose and into a rat trap, so she ain't breeding anymore; my female BP got to enjoy her.)

One of the things I did was keep the only girls that survived, all from the hooded girl's litter. Now, they're 6 weeks old (born Oct 7th) and still have that funny baby fur that's softer and finer than any adults (unless they're satin and I'm not realizing it). I'm pretty sure they're on their first cycle, as both are pretty skittish and shouldn't be since they're handled every day. However, at 6 weeks, I'm having a hard time believing they're at breeding age.

So what's the optimal size/weight/age to breed females the first time?

Yes, they are at breeding age...
I hold back my females to 12-14 weeks before I breed them.

    16 weeks is optimal.

    12 weeks is okay.
