    my beardie throwing up water

wow it has been forever, anyway my berdie of about 2 years has been doing fine unto till a few weeks ago, everytime she drinks she throws up and shakes her head, the vet gave here a good look and said i nothing was wrong with her, i dont know whats wrong, all the temops and everytinh has been the same the past years.. 40 gallon breeder. 100-105 fro basking, ambaint 95, and cool end 82-86, she seems fine and this doesn't bother her normal basking and living. she eats fine. but it is scary and emotional for me to see my animal dong this. i give her a bath twice a week and she seems thristy but i try to limity her water entake to just absorbing.

ps, yes i have MVB and use calcium and herpatavite dust, as told so back in the day. not a noob at it, just worried about my baby.

I've seen lizards throw up before.. it's kind of violent and scary the way they shake their heads.

I had a crested gecko rescue that was underfed and SKINNY, and every now and then he would eat too much and puke. I had to be careful and monitor his food intake per feeding to make sure he kept it all down. After some months he got better and stopped puking.

I assume however that your beardie isn't overconsuming water because of long-term dehydration and neglect.. that one is a real head scratcher.

I'd suggest do what you're doing, limit most of her water intake through absorption, and give regular baths.

Re: my beardie throwing up water

Also salad has a lot of water in it, so even if she can't hold the water down shes getting a little bit of water from somewhere. The only reason I wouldn't think anything was wrong is "normally" if something can hold food down water should not be a problem at all "normally" its the other way around when they are sick, cant hold food down but can drink a little. But im not a vet thats just my 2 cents. .. if the vet says shes good, id just let it be... unless she starts to physically deteriorate, then id take her back

Re: my beardie throwing up water

I have one beardie that does it everyone once in a while usually when she has a bath. It is almost like they drink to fast and get hitcups and expell water because of it. It doesn't seem to have any ill effects but deffinetly scary to witness...

That just sounds really like something to me. I mean there are some beardie veterens here but you might want to ask a well known breeder as well. It just does not sound right. I was wondering (and this is me totally guessing) if she is starting to get an RI??

Are you giving her water at room temps...or are you giving her cold water. I would think that cold water might not stay down to shocking for her system. I dont know....but I would definetly get a second opinion.
