    Couple questions about P.A.M.

So can I use newspaper or paper towel as bedding for a little while till the mites are gone? As far as I know mites lay their eggs in the aspen bedding, so wouldnt it just be easier to do paper bedding till they are under control? I says to spray bedding, so can I just spray the paper and tub?

Also what about the rack? Do I need to spray that as well since thats what the tubs are slid into? I don't have flexwatt in there yet, thats going in tomorrow (I know you arent supposed to spray the heat tape)

And what about the outside of the water bowl? Or should I just wash it in diluted bleach and rinse well? Any other tips are appreciated

ive never had a snake with mites but id spray everything.. takes like 45 seconds so why not and yea you can use paper towels and newspaper.. ALOT of people use those instead of natural substrates

i just reread what you said and it just dont soak the bedding and it will be fine.. pam is safe for snakes so you should be fine

Wash everything in soap and water. I am not sure where you live, but air dry it if you can. Replace bedding, or use paper towels. Before putting them in, spray the container the snake is in. spray anything that is going in there with the snake. Let that dry for 15 minutes.

There's a spray that is often sold along with PAM (Natural something or other, I forget the name).... if you have that, spray the snake, and be sure to let the snake soak. It works by dehydrating the mites, so you don't want to dehydrate the snake as well.

    Re: Couple questions about P.A.M.

It wouldn't hurt to spray the rack as well if you can. I've heard stories of mites building nests in racks, away from the PAM on the tubs.

As long as everything is dry before you introduce the animal(s), it's safe. The only thing I wouldn't spray would be the water bowl. Just soap and water and a soak in bleach/water or vinegar/water.

Thanks everyone. Got everything sprayed down and everyone put back in. Tomorrow I do the other room with just a few snakes, so the task wont be so daunting
