WOW IM DUMB!!!! PLZ say im not the ONLY one that has done this LOL

ooooook so i had my one year old pastel bp out wit me today .. she was being good.. so she had been out for like 30-60 min not sure lol.. and my friend was over and then he was going to go back to his place i wanted to go but he was ready to walk out the door and i had to hurry to get ready..

AT THE SAME TIME my roommate came in the door and started talking to us.. so i was trying to talk to both of them and get ready and put my bp away and some how in the confusing i forgot to put the screen top on my tank!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and go figure i didn't know that till i came back like 2 HRS later!!!!

i walked in my bedroom and saw the screen was off the tank and said some words... LOL.. but i found her really fast THANK GOD!

she was right under my computer chair.. which woulda been the last place i looked if i hadn't seen her there while i was just scanning the room.. only because that is the coldest place in the room (right by the window).

but anyways its been about 3 hrs since then and she has not sat still for a min in her tank.. she been rubbing against the glass and the tank and everything in her tank LOL.. she now thinks she can get out... which prolly isn't good..

well thanks for reading plz comment if this has happened to you in any way shape or form.. or if you wanna make some fun of me for being so dumb go ahead i deserve it

I think most every snake owner has made a similar mistake at least once.

    My personal favorite experience:

Right after I made my rack, I had settled my snakes into their tubs, which I carefully slid back into the rack as far as they would go. Unfortunately, I had forgotten that I made my rack without a back and by pushing the tubs until they bumped the wall, I left about 2" of open space in the backs of the tubs.

Needless to say, when I checked on the snakes an hour later, two of my females were long gone and I was freaking out. One I found very quickly, she was going down the back of the rack. The other I couldn't find anywhere, I was so worried! Then I heard a noise and low and behold, she was 8 feet off the floor, hanging onto a thumbtack in the wall. To this day I have no idea how a 750 gram snake managed to hang onto a thumbtack 8 feet off the ground without falling.

I returned them to their tubs, relieved but puzzled, I still had not figured out how they'd gotten out. Fortunately for me, Toki the high-wire ball, promptly made a second attempt to reach the ceiling and clued me in to what was happening, before I went to bed and ended up with all 8 snakes loose!

No, you're not the only one

Two days ago I checked through the tubs (I have 3) and in the middle one I lift the hide and find BOTH my pastel lesser and pastel yellowbelly huddled together..
Obviously the yellowbelly (which belongs to the bottom tub) couldn't have gotten out of his tub and made it into the middle one, so I must have accidently put him in the middle tub after cleaning his. Duh.

I'm so glad I didn't start checking the tubs from the bottom up. I would have FREAKED OUT to find the empty tub of the yellow belly and I probably would have turned the house upside down before ever thinking about checking the other tubs.

I was tired and distracted when I cleaned the tub, and this is why I ended up putting the yellowbelly into the wrong space afterward.

Yup, my tanks screen locks twice on the front, twice on the back. Apparently I didn't push the back left corner down all the way.. My BP pushed against the corner with his tail on the hide to give him leverage and got out through the corner. I was in the shower when my girlfriend came in and told me my snake was in my roomates room (Who is very afraid of them) and they were freaking out. Was interesting to say the least.

Before I switched to tubs my bps were both housed in a 55 gallon tank (I know it's a no-no but I was worried about separating them until I came to this site). My boyfriend took Weezy out and left Zeus in without putting the top back on. I went in the room and he was just chillin' out in the edge of tank. My room was a mess so thank God he didn't get any farther.

Second escape was after I switched to tubs. We started out with the green latching Sterilite bins. I was cleaning my room and picked up a box I knew was empty. I was really heavy and I was like wtf? Ohp there's Louise in the box! The latch was open and I assumed that I had forgotten to close it. The next morning the latch was open again and we found her under my dresser. Needles to say we switched to locking tubs!

Re: WOW IM DUMB!!!! PLZ say im not the ONLY one that has done this LOL

    Great stories.
My story is similiar to Zina's but with some corns
Pulled the tub to feed one, no snake, searched through the aspen and everything in the tub, tear it all apart. Nothing. Pull the whole tub out of the rack (heart is racing now) move it to the floor and take everything out of it, no snake. Spend hours searching the whole room and another hour or so searching the whole house. No snake. Go to bed crying with just three hours left until I need to get up for work. Miserable
Next day spent a few hours searching again but finally gave up and starting feeding the population. Noticed one of my snakes who is ALWAYS in his hide hanging out near the front of the tub pacing back and forth, sorta ignored him, thought maybe he was hungry, went back to feeding those on the schedule. Kept kinda watching the pacing snake as it was weird and eventually pulled his tub out. He basically started crawling out of his tub onto my arm. I grabbed him fully, gave him a good check over to make sure he was physically okay and lifted his hide to put him under that and tuck him back in..and guess what I found....my missing snake from the day before. No wonder he was hanging out near the front of the tub. It was like he was saying "what the heck is this guy in here with me for and could you please get him out of here" LOL I was so happy that I had found him but certainly felt like stupid for putting the snake back in the wrong tub. Must have been on auto pilot and was off by a shelf.

Anyway I think alot of us have pulled some lame brain moves for sure.

I had 5ft ball years ago when i had my snakes at my parents then. well i feed him and did the normal routine feed all of them put all of them back in the enclosure and i forgot when i put my ball through the top to latch the lid back shut. Couldnt find him for 2 weeks looked everywhere needless to say found him 2 weeks later at night slithering down the hall. he was ina closet for 2 weeks right next to his cage which couldnt find him cause it was stacked to the top with junk. My mom at the time was worried about it getting in bed or tryin to mistake the chawawa for a rat! lol

Got one for y'all and it got real expensive, real quick. Petco had Balls on sale for $29.99 or something like that. We bought 2 babies and the cashier put them in their standard box and taped it up to ensure they wouldn't escape.
Well, my wife put the box on her lap and made sure they stayed tucked safe inside their temporary home until we made it home. When we got home about 40 minutes later we brought the box inside, opened it up and low and behold, there was only ONE baby Ball in the box. We went back out to my wife's car and began searching frantically, but to no avail. We immediately called the store and verified that, indeed, the cashier did put 2 snakes in the box.
Warm weather was coming and we knew if the snake was in the car, the chances of it baking in the heat was a distinct possibility and the end result would be less than desireable.
So, we contacted the local Chervrolet dealer and brought my wife's car in to have it searched. Imagine the look on the guys' faces when we told them there was a python loose in the car somewhere. Out of a dozen techs, only 2 would tackle the search job. The dealer had the car for a week and in that time, the interior was completely disassembled and basically turned inside out. No sign of a snake was found and the bill was over $1500 in labor. Imagine the morph I could have gotten with that money!
Fast forward 2 months and we are in the Home Depot parking lot and my wife is cleaning the trunk to make room for the bags I was bringing out. She grabbed a pile of newspapers and yanked them out to get ready to throw out. A few minutes later as I'm walking toward the car I hear screams with a carload of people pointing out the window behind my wife. She turned around and laying on the ground looking up at her is the baby python we lost 2 months prior.
"Miracle" has been a mainstay in our family since and he holds a special place in our hearts.
So, yeah, things like that do happen and it can really make you pull your hair out. In our case it also cost us alot of money as well.
    Later,

    Bri
