Hard to tell, some say that they are the same morph, other say that they aren't. You could produce Lessers from Butters and vice versa. Since they both have the same super form (BEL) it's hard to tell the difference.

Lesser Platinum’s are descendants of the original Platinum imported from Africa by Ralph Davis a while back. Butters look similar but come from a different African origin, I'm not sure who imported the orginal Butters.

They are different bloodlines of the same morph. You can't bred a Lesser to a normal and get butters...as they come from different bloodlines but if you bred a butter to a lesser you most likely will not be able to tell the difference between the offspring as they look so similar.

Since no one is really keeping track of the bloodlines (maybe someone is, if so I've never heard it) so if you were looking to buy one you could honestly just pick what you want to call it and would never be proven wrong.

As far as I know...any combination of Lessers, Butters, and Mojaves makes BEL's. Mojave x Mojave is sometimes called a Super Mojave instead of a BEL.

If you breed a Butter to a Lesser each egg will have a:
25% chance of being a normal
25% chance of being a Butter
25% chance of being a Lesser
25% chance of being a Blue eyed Lucy

If you breed a Butter with a Lesser I doubt anyone could tell the difference so pretty much:
    25% chance of Normal
    50% chance of Butter/Lesser
    25% chance of BEL
