Can the female smell the male nearby ?

My female started to refuse food as a lot of female due to the breeding season. She is now also 1200 grams so she might get a bit twitchy now

Aaanyway, at the same time the season started pretty much, she stopped eating AND I picked up her future boyfriend which now lives "next door" in the rub on the right.

I noticed that she constantly tries to get through that airhole (you can maybe see that through the dodgy picture).

Now I wonder, can she maybe smell him and gets all woozy

Obvious answer is "move the rub" - well d'ur

Would still love to know if that is just a coincidence

(this is just a temporary setup btw.)
