    temp question

will this work for balls? a uth set @90 -95 for warm side - - - - - and a uth set around 80-85 mid tank - - - - then the balance of the tank at room temp - typical room temp being 70 -74 - - - don't bash me - i only have one ball and i am trying to eliminate any need for heat lamps or ceramics, etc - its just hard for me to imagine these midsize to big breeders running all their "snake rooms" at 85 degrees ambient - i know they are mostly using 3 inch flexwatts in rack sytems - keepni a variety of breeds with different temp needs in the same room - th'x for your help

Why would anyone bash you? As far as I can see, you have a legitimate question.

Is it a glass tank? If so, I would insulate the sides and back with rigid foam insulation and partially cover your screen top. This will serve a few purposes....it will help trap in some of that heat, raisingt your ambient temps....it will help keep your humidity in the proper range...and it will give your BP a better sense of security since there won't be a bunch of light coming in from all sides. You can get the rigid pink insulation at any Home Depot/Lowes for a few bucks for a big sheet.

BTW...welcome to BP.net. Don't be afraid to ask questions...we were all noobs at one point in time.

    Re: temp question

It should be okay, I've heard of people using uth's on either side so that the room doesn't have to be 80 degrees, so as long as you use a reliable thermostat I don't see a problem

yeah...if you insulate it, it should raise the ambient temps. just use a digital thermometer to check it....but it should definitely be fine.

    Re: temp question

    Hi,

I would definately try the insulation and see where it gets you to.

You really don't want your BP below75f if you can help it.

I would put the second heatmat set at 80 under the cool end hide instead of in the middle.
