what size tub

I would like to get a baby ball python. I have a 20 gallon long with a sliding screen lid. I have been reading posts on here saying you have to cover the screen lid with foil and a bunch of other stuff. So I am opting for a tub. Can someone point me in a direction of size of tub for a baby ball and the type of tub. Also what kind of UTH would you recommend for the proper size tub. I am very new to snake keeping. I have a bearded dragon and that is pretty simple to upkeep. Thanks any info would be great. Or should I just stick with my 20 gallon long.

11x12 inch flexwatt
clips to connect the wire to the flexwatt.
Inexpensive extension cord, cut off the female end and wire to flexwatt
Thermostat to plug flexwatt into.

Start with a locking 15 qt tub for a hatchling and when it grows up switch to a larger tub.
With a 15qt tub you'll want to only put half of it on the heat tape to get your temps appropriate, when you move up to a larger tub the 11x12 inch flexwatt will cover around 1/3 of the tub, perfect for larger tubs too.

Dimmers only work well in a room that keeps a fairly stable temperature.
If the room temperature goes up or down 8 degrees so does the heat pad.

Wiring flexwatt is super easy and comes with very simple set of instructions, even someone with no wiring skills such as myself figured it out
This just plugs into the t-stat...
(clips should be covered in at least electrical tape if not the clip covers they sell)


You can use a zoo-med under tank heater if you already have one, but if you are buying you can have the clips and 4 pieces or more of 11x12 flexwatt delivered for the cost of one new heat pad by zoo-med.

Cost wise you can't beat flex watt, but at the same time you need to use a thermostat instead of a dimmer, more then likely your room temp will fluctuate and then the temp will be all over the place and you'll be messing with the dumb dimmer all the time.

You really get peace of mind with a t stat
