I've heard of some breeders rubbing some sperm from another male on the back of the female, I just let them do their thing, if they are ready they will get the job done , he could just be an "under cover lover", I have yet to see my spider in a lock, but I know is getting the job done.

I only have one small male(around 350 g.) that is locking up at the moment, and I do believe the only thing I did was put him in the tub with the female. In the past I have tried to get small males to breed, but only a few have accomplished it for me. I guess its just up to the individual balls attitude towards the female. I do not put my balls through a "cycle" for breeding. They are kept at the same temps year round. If the little male is ready he will do the deed, but if not just grow him up a little longer.

He could be doing it! I can't remember how small my boy was last year but at the most he was 450 grams. I never saw him lock till the very end, but he had definitely been doing the job long before that. I didn't use any tricks. If the girl sheds, leave the shed in her tub and put the boy in right away!

It's still very early. I'd give him a couple more months before I worried at all. The only tips I can think of is to mist them when they are together, and use another males plugs on the female. Also, pair them up the night that the female is going to shed and when there is a storm front coming through.

Re: secrets to getting a small male to breed
thanks everyone! how do you get the male sperm to put on the females back? also i've heard that one way to get/trick two snakes of a differnt species is to get the female juices/ferimones of the same species as the male and rub it on the female your trying to hybridize's back. how do you get those juices? i'd assume it couldn't hurt with the topic. im not planning on hybridizing anything. i would just like to know how this is done.

well it usually cost about 40 bucks or so depending on how shady the lady is Seriously though all you do ist pop a male that is producing sperm, collect the soldiers from vent, and wipe it on the females back. I have not really delved into this but other people swear by it.
