    Identify this little guy!

    What am I?

Found in Northwestern Illinois. My best guess Storeria dekayi -- Dekay's Brownsnake... because it was very small and the brownsnake only gets 45cm or so?

Looks like a Dekay's to me. Jealous big-time, I love the little guys but haven't been able to find one in forever.

He was super cute, and so tiny!

But a little snapper. He would not stop trying to bite the camera.

    Cool

Absolutely positively a Storeria Dekayi brown snake.

Feed it small worms or cut up night crawlers.

Be sure your aware of your local wildlife laws pertaining to wild caught.

Some states/cities dont allow it and some do with permits.

Think what you want, Dekayi are not a protected species.

One problem I have with all of that is why is it perfectly OK for morons to chop up snakes with hoes, shovels and lawn mowers??

    WTF are you talking about.

Protected or not some states and cities require permits to own native wildlife.

Learn your facts before you come off as a MORON

    Nice reply.

Quoted from the DEC Illinois LAW (Location of the original poster)

"Section 880.30 Daily Catch and Possession Limits The daily catch limit for reptiles is eight (8) of each species and for amphibians is eight (8) of each species. The possession limit for reptiles is sixteen (16) of each species and for amphibians is sixteen (16) of each species."

Re-read my posts, did i say it was illegal for him to keep them. NO

I said READ THE LAWS FIRST, as we do not need attention to the reptile community illegally keeping wildlife.

I didnt bother looking up any information as its not my state nor my problem to look it up.

    Again re-read
