    Exclamation Help stuck woodchip

So my bp was eating and he swallowed a piece of coconut husk. After he was done eating i saw a bump in his throat and thought it was a broken bone but when i touched it it went down and when he started swallowing and resetting his jaws it looked like it went down his throat. Though I'm not entirely sure.

If that piece of wood turns out to still be there should I try to remove it somehow? Should i try to coax him into eating a pinky or something to push the piece down so he can pass it? it wasnt very large, he eats adult mie and the wood chip was the size of a pinky's head. also the chips arnt sharp or anything so i doubt that if its still there that its stuck like a splinter. it just got me worried. I read that usually they just pass the stuff but still..

He will be fine, don't stress over it. If he's uncomfortable he'll probably throw it up, I doubt it though.

    Re: Help stuck woodchip

    okay thanks.

I'm usually pretty careful about keeping woodchips out of his mouth, I heat the mice in hot water and then dry them to keep he wood from sticking and if they do stick ( ._. mouse balls always collect woodchips) I use my hemostats to pull them off. I also feed him over a piece of drift wood so that even if he misses he doesnt get a face full of woodchips.

So havin this happen for the first time kinda spooked me. It's true though, he didnt seem to pay any attention to the wood at all, just went about his usual business, not at all like what he does when he gets a tuft of mouse fur stuck in his mouth, he'll start rubbing his face on something and then go drink lots of water i guess to flush it down.

Will I be able to see the chip in his crap or do their stomach acids usually dissolve that stuff?

You probably won't see it. If they can digest a whole rodent, they can surely digest a little piece of wood
