Bearded Dragons and racks

I know nothing about Bearded Dragons other than they are fairly entertaining when young so I have a question.

Can you house them in a rack set up? I have read they have lighting requirements and all that, but is that just propaganda from supply companies so they can increase sales ( Sort of like what they do with Leos )?

I'd be interested to know!

you need a uvb bulb the light is a must then they need sand and also fresh greens daily

I have never seen them in or heard of them being in a tub rack, so I figured I'd ask.

Bearded dragons should not be housed on sand while under 12 inches because of impaction problems.

Some people keep them in horse water troughs with their lamps and such pointed into the trough, and beardies can't jump to get out.

UV light is critical for bearded dragons. They will die without it and it's recommended to use heat lamps rather than just pads because some will burrow [especially females trying to lay eggs, and ones that are just crazy... like mine] into the sand and beardie's can't feel belly heat so they will just let their bellies burn. For the same reasons, heat rocks are pretty much forbidden. But heat rocks just way overheat.

Are you thinking about getting a beardie or just curious about setups?

Edit: also beardies need lots of running space but also love to bask up high, so they'd need a big tub. Or just a tank. Lots of people do custom enclosures.

I would be interested in one day getting a couple, but was just watching tv and thought about it for some reason.

an ideal set up for them an adult is a 4x2x2 set up. They are totally interactive so it is good for them to be able to see ppl around and come out often. They do need uvb and uva as well as fresh greens daily and a healthy does of crickets or dubias. Mealworms are a no no for them when they are young...can cause impaction.
