help
i tried feeding my baby boa a mouse, she ended up eating it sideways and im pretty sure that means its too small of a prey item. problem is ive never even heard of a snake squeezing its prey hard enough to make the entrails squeeze out of its stomache. it was frozen thawed from a pet store ive never purchased from because my rat breeder crashed her car and isnt getting me rats from her facility anymore. should i be concerned about the quality of the prey? i think it may have possibly been poorly frozen and maybe started to decompose. i dont see any reason for it to have come out like that besides maybe some decomposition prior to being frozen. what should i do? will my snake be sick? are my assumptions of decompostion before freezing reasonable?

sometimes that will happen. Doesn't mean the prey item is bad. just means your snake squeezed it just right...lol. Just a hint, the prey item should be the same size or a tad bigger than the fattest part of your snake

Re: help
i know how big they should be i just couldnt get the right pray because of what happened to my supplier, im just worried about the exploding stomache. i could see quite a bit of red through the stomache, but it looked like the skin was already thin and possibly slipping.

Sometimes if you overheat the f/t rodent they tend to explode like that.

A slimy and smelly mess!
As everyone has said, it happens from time to time with f/t. I wouldn't be worried.

well thank you very much everyone. i must have over heated the mouse. ive never had to thaw a mouse before. only medium sized rats and i thawed it along with a medium rat for the same time and in the same water so thats probably it. thank you all once again, i was pretty worried since snakes cant really handle decomposed prey and i was pretty upset with the pet store lol.
