My current house is "haunted" and it gets freaking annoying. Enough with the footsteps up and down the hall, talking in empty rooms and really WTF is up with slamming the cabinet doors at 2 AM

    Re: Share a spooky story.

I was asked to go to a party way back when I was about 24. I had just gotten married and wasn't sure if I wanted to go without the wife. Anyway, here I go. We pick up 2 more friends and head downtown. I walk into a banquet hall of a well known hotel. What do I see.........

    Welcome to the Young Democrats.

I walked out, called my wife and she came and she picked me up.

Talk about a scary story and it's all true.

When I was very young, like three or four, my grandparents had a farm house that was haunted. He would do stupid things like taking wallets and then after hours of searching and yelling at him he would put it somewhere out in the open like in the middle of a bed or the kitchen counter. He would never do anything bad, but it just got annoying. My grandmother took care of an autistic man and he would have conversations with him. I do remember one night when I was sleeping in the room, the one that he fell out the window, he was turning the light on and off and just standing there. He would turn the power off in the hole house while you were showering or in the middle of the stairs. When they moved out, she asked him to come with her. My grandmother, reast in peace, was kind of crazy.

They checked into after a while, he was mentally retarded and fell out the window when he was like 25.

    Re: Share a spooky story.

A while ago, like three years or something, I was sitting in my kitchen doing last minute homework at about 11 pm (I know, tisk tisk) and out of the corner of my eye I see a dark figure of a man walk down the hallway and I saw my bedroom light go on. I walked down the hall to investigate and there was nothing to be found, except for my bedroom light that was still on. I opened my bedroom door and all of a sudden the lights went off.

I freaked out, and I never stayed up that late doing homework again.

We all seem to have something like that happen, but not everyone shares because of stigma!

I've had a couple of strange encounters . But yes, people are reluctant to share, because who wants to be made fun of ?

Most of my encounters happened when I was alone (I know, most will say, go figures...)

There was a lamp in my daughters (newborn) room that you could wind up and then it would play this loud and annoying melody. I never wound it up, because of that. One night I woke up, it was around 2 am. I was wide awake, but not sure what woke me up.

As I'm trying to go back to sleep that dang melody starts playing in her room. I felt frozen in fear, I kept thinking I should really go check on her, in case it was a "sign" or something (you think strange things in the middle of the night) I finally made myself go into her room, and of course there was nothing and no-one there.

I would sit there and watch TV and suddenly the TV would shut off and on , or the VCR would come on. I wasn't anywhere close to the remotes. I always got a weird feeling before things like that happened. Like my stomach tightening up. Hard to explain. And yes, there could be perfectly normal explanations for those things.

Also, when I was a child, I kept hearing distinct noises from the kitchen. It was in the middle of the night and I wondered how noone else heard them or woke up. It was the noise a plastic cup would make if you dropped it on the floor. Over and over again.

I got up and went in there, thinking my brother was playing a trick on me. But I passed his bedroom on the way and he was fast asleep. The noise stopped when I got to the kitchen. We had no plastic cups.

Even now I don't like thinking about those events. They didn't give me the warm and fuzzies.

There were other things, but really, I don't even like remembering them.
